THREE - A matter of storage

For the past few months, I have given considerable thought to the idea of downsizing my art efforts. This matter arose because for two years I made large things out of fiber and textiles that now require a place for storage. By large, I mean oversized -- measuring in square feet rather than square inches, with bulk and heft and volume in the cubic feet zone. The largest of these items is about 11 feet wide by more than 7 feet long. Fortunately it can be folded like an unruly blanket, but it still weighs fortysome pounds and takes up a lot of space. And its slightly smaller kin weigh at least twentysome pounds, and they all require storage space of some kind.

With that, and downsizing, in mind, I have started painting with watercolors and acrylics. The artwork I create using these mediums are flat and can be stored horizontally (watercolors) or vertically (acrylics) with a piece of acid-free glassine paper between them. So many paintings can be stored in the space that a fortysome pound oversized weaving requires. And I still get to create and make beautiful things. Yays all around!
